- Woke up this a.m. to Nurse Jackie standing at my bed talking to me about finances. She read an article on Sallie Mae loans in NYTs and lecturing me on my credit card usage. Nurse Jackie reminded me (forgetting that I am not retarded) that if my student loan goes unpaid the loan company can put a lien on my meagre income. Quote: “Amanda, when you spend money, its like shoveling shit against the tide. The tide is roaring past you, child with your bliggity blog (Nurse Jackie learned the term bliggity blog from Dennis Leary in his Hulu commercial). Oh and in case you are wondering. I am not a mendicant. I spend approximately $100 week on food and fitness stuff. Oy vey!
- Commitment to goals. My friggin cross to bear this week. Maybe it’s the Celexa or maybe I am so fully pissed that Winter is biting at our heels with out the dignity of a Summer and Fall to provide us with sun and vitamin C. Either way, life has been tough for me. I don’t mean tough like I have to work in a Kentucky coal mine and drink Mountain Dew until my mouth is occluded with coal like teeth.
- I know there is one thing I am very good at and that is asking for help when I need it. So, I recently came across a delicious blog FitBottomedGirls.com which is a must read. These chicks write with great passion, fun and are enormously interactive with their readers. I have conversed before with them on Twitter and asked them to do a brief interview on how blogging helps or hinders a woman with ambitious fitness goals. There responses are below. (As I write this sentence Nurse Jackie has returned to my Harry Potter, below the staircase bedroom, to proffer me the NYT article on defaulting on student loans.)
- AB:Do you have opinions on CrossFit?
- FBG:Unfortunately, we don’t have any experience with CrossFit, so we can’t speak to that. I can answer your other questions, though, so here you go!
- AB:How do you generate content?
- FBG:We never have problems coming up with content! A lot of topics stem directly from our personal experiences. Our readers are also a great source of inspiration; we love to get the low-down on the trends and products our readers are curious about.
- AB:Has blogging improved your commitment to fitness/health?
- FBG:We were both quite committed to health and fitness before, but blogging definitely takes it to a new level. It’s much harder to ignore fitness when you write about it all the time! It definitely keeps us accountable and helps us to keep fitness fun by trying out the newest trends.
- AB:If you had any advice to give to an overweight 35 year old woman who wants to compete in the CrossFit games in a year, what would it be?
- FBG: Commit to your goal and make sure you complete the steps that it takes to get there. And remember: Age is just a number, so don’t let that hold you back!
Thank you, Erin for taking the time to answer a few queries!
- Below watch a video about bunnies and marzipan. It reminds me of my favorite childhood game, Candy Land. I totally loved when friends got caught in the molasses.
