Does Marsupial Fitness Plus Kylie Minogue Equal CrossFit?

First, wow! Thank you for all of the positive feedback on the Robb Wolf series.  I have to tell you this guy knows his shit.  Robb helped me edit the posts several times over to make sure that all the material was palatable to newbies and Crossfitters alike.

I also want to thank continually Allison from CrossfitNYC and Marcus from CrossFit Oahu for their mentoring.  Alison and I spoke today about including some sort of fermented beverage into my daily diet. Given that yogurt contains diary, I am opting for Kombucha (which I was drinking a year ago from Williamsburg’s Urban Rustic-whose owner produced the film, King Corn.) The other option is to have a teaspoon or two a day of Apple Cider Vinegar diluted with water and toss it down the hatches quickly because it doesn’t taste good. Alison recommends doing this when taking my Vitamin D3 so I get it all accomplished.

Nurished Kitchen states: Modern researchers are just beginning to understand what the sages of old were tuned in to: fermented food conveys clear and calculable health benefits to the human diet. Lactic acid fermentation in and of itself enhances the micronutrient profile of several foods.

From the Mayo Clinic, Kombucha, a fermented tea that has its orginins in ancient China and Japan, is a colony of bacteria and yeast. Kombucha tea is made by adding the colony to sugar and black or green tea and allowing the mix to ferment. The resulting liquid contains vinegar, B vitamins and a number of other chemical compounds. Kombucha tea is commonly prepared by taking a starter sample from an existing culture and growing a new colony in a fresh jar. Health benefits attributed to Kombucha tea include stimulating the immune system, preventing cancer, and improving digestion and liver function. However, to date there is limited medical research on the Kombucha’s benefits, though there is an abundance of anecdotal data. I drank it Kombucha in NY because it digested my food calmly.

Anyone have good experiences with Kombucha?

Just make sure the apple cider vinegar is the kind “with the ‘mother’,” as they call it. That stuff is the real deal. And no, it doesn’t taste good.

I LOVE Kombucha! I found your site with a Google search, “Robb Wolf Kombucha”, because I was curious what his thoughts were and wanted to see if he had anything written on the topic.

I discovered this concoction years ago (back in the 80’s), on my aunt and uncles’ countertop…not quite as appealing as the Synergy brand I’ve grown to know and love, but I guess that’s what you did back then.

I also keep this stuff (http://www.bragg.com/products/acv.html) lying around, as it’s not nearly as expensive (although not nearly as tasty either) as the store bought kombucha drinks.

So, whether it’s mental or physical I don’t know (I’ve been following Paleo eating for the past 3 months or so and haven’t had any digestive issues to speak of since)…but I feel like I’m doing something good for my body, either way.

    Back to perusing your site!
